Britain's Toilet - Luton v Southend

To be honest if it was even money each of two, I think Southend would be a rub off.

My first thoughts are that it was very sympathetic of the people of Essex to develope a town to rival Luton for all round 'shit-hole-ness'. It just a shame that time has seemingly forgot this god forsaken part of the country and it is therefore stuck in some kind of early 1970's time warp.

Cars have fake leopard skin seat covers, ridiculous spoilers and there is moody jewellery aplenty adorned by the locals. I have played three tournaments (badly) and not really been my usually talkative self. Despite my new quite approach I still seem to have upset a few of the locals. Perhaps it is my opinion of their town. I'm not sure why they blame me though - they created this desperate place! You don't get behaviour like this on the mean streets of Surrey.

My back is excruciating. This hasn't really helped. I have found concentration on the game almost impossible most of the time and it has culminated in early exits in two of the three tournaments. I plan a trip to the physio again on Monday as I really need to regain the physical capacity to play for sessions of 10 hours.

Inertia

I really fancied a night off the internet yesterday so I made a few phone calls to find out where I could find some action. It seemed like not much of interest was going on until I found out there was a decent Omaha game at the Vic. The problem was that as much as I wanted to play in the game (and believe me I was itching for a game) I just couldn't find the motivation to drive into the centre of town. I wanted to be there but didn't want to have to get there (or drive back in the early hours). I've kind of generated a central London phobia as a result of not having been there for so long.

I had to leave the house though. I had just been staring at the same 4 walls for seemingly days on end. I decided that the best course of action was just to get in the car and drive. I really had no idea where I was going, but had the vague notion that if I stumbled on an Indian restuarant I would go and eat, where as if I passed an internet cafe I would go and play. As much as I didn't fancy the net, the internet and a different 4 walls had more appeal than a live game requiring a drive to London.

To cheer myself up I bought a frozen apple pie and a tub of ice cream from Sainsbury's this morning though. One of life's great pleasures.

Pie In The Sky

I'm extremely hungary, but there is no food in the house and my back hurts to much to go out and get some. Consequently I am currently mentally perculiar but I am enjoying the view as I overlook the metaphorical verge of remedial splendour.

I have started to think that for virtue of this suffering I will be rewarded in the after life. My train of thought (led mostly by hunger) takes me to the Salvation Army hymm 'In The Sweet Bye and Bye' with the emphasis on the line "you'll get pie in the sky when you die."

If all the sky was apple pie,
And all the sea was custard...
I'm still thinking about the rest.

This must be where the phrase pie in the sky comes from.

Oh I just really love apple pie and custard.

Sleeping

Just trying out a new strategy.

I doubt you'll find it in Super System or any other "traditional" poker reference.

So as not to waste valuable cracking on time I am sleeping between hands from now on. If I turn the volume up the little beep should wake me up when it's my go.

Night night, very tired now.
